BLVKBOOK Gallery at the Beverly Center is proud to host an unforgettable evening with Jayne Kennedy Overton — an iconic figure who reshaped history on television and in Hollywood. On Wednesday, November 20, she arrives center-stage for an intimate fireside chat and book signing that invites guests into the deeper story behind her new memoir, Plain Jayne.
This special community experience is presented in collaboration with Dr. Marie Y. Lemelle, President of the Beverly Hills Chapter of the Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce.
A Legacy That Changed the Game

Jayne Kennedy Overton first entered the spotlight as Miss Ohio USA, but her trailblazing impact truly began when she stepped into national sports broadcasting — becoming one of the earliest and most visible Black women on CBS’s The NFL Today. She shattered ceilings simply by showing up, with poise, authority and brilliance.
Her career also navigated challenges that many in the industry tried to silence. Plain Jayne fearlessly examines that journey — a powerful testimony about reclaiming autonomy, identity and voice.
“This book is my truth — the one thing no one can take from me,”
— Jayne Kennedy Overton
